LES ÉVÉNEMENTS

First voices, first novels

Thursday 30 September 2010 at 19h30 | Villa Gillet Avec : Anne Berest | Thomas Heams-Ogus | Violaine Schwartz

An encounter with three authors of the new literary year.

In collaboration with the publishers Seuil and P.O.L

Event hosted by Francesca Isidori, literary critic and producer for France Culture

In La Fille de son père, Anne Berest immerses us in a tangled web of family ties with incredible authenticity.  This subtle tale of three sisters caught up in a family secret is reminiscent of the universes of Claude Chabrol and Arnaud Desplechin.
> La Fille de son père (Seuil, 2010)

In Cent seize Chinois et quelques, Thomas Heams-Ogus recounts the extraordinary story of the Chinese held captive in the Abruzzo region of Italy from 1941 to 1943. By restoring a forgotten page of Mussolini’s Italy, the author creates a metaphor for exile, immigration and the dangers of intolerance.

Violaine Schwartz is an actress and singer. La Tête en arrière is the interior monologue of an unemployed opera singer losing her grip. Every detail of her tortured existence is brilliantly captured in this piece composed by an imagination run wild.
